Avian Night Sky - Selected Work
"Avian Night Sky: A Collaborative Exploration of Darkness and Transition" by MaryBeth Garrigan and Petra Johnita Lommen immerses viewers in the celestial beauty and mystery of the night. This collaborative exhibition reflects on the fading wonder of star-filled skies disrupted by light pollution, using luminous, dreamlike paintings to reveal the transformative power of darkness. Birds in flight serve as metaphors for human journeys through introspection and change, bridging environmental and personal themes. Garrigan’s commitment to ecological awareness merges seamlessly with Lommen’s exploration of LGBTQ narratives, creating a layered, meditative experience that invites reflection on both nature and self.
